History of Tibet

Mythically Tibetans are the descendent of a male monkey and a female rock demon.  This myth probably came to existence when the outsiders found out the Tibetans way of painting their faces with colors in order to protect them self from the harsh cold climate. Later at the time of the great Dalai Lama, the 5th, the story changes the monkey to a disciple of Buddha. Eventually the king Srong-tsan-gam-po, was claimed to be the reincarnation of the male monkey- the disciple of Buddha and princess Tara of Nepalese kingdom married to the king Srong-tsan-gam-po as reincarnation of the rock demon- mother savior.

Many historic events took place in Tibet from the ancient time till now. Ruled by various kings and emperors and guided by the great Dalai Lama making it one of the most popular spiritual place.  In 1951 Tibet signed a 17-point agreements with china which was suppose to hold the Chinese invasion. But Chinese government violated every article of that agreement and invaded Tibet to make its colony despite the strong resistance of Tibetan people. The massacre of thousands of people in the streets of Lhasa in March 10, 19859 is the darkest day of the Tibetan history. The same year after 7 days after the mass killing Dalai Lama fled the country and took political asylum in India. Now there are hundreds of thousands of Tibetan refugees all around the world and the Tibetan resistance sometimes comes up to surface now and then.
