Jokhang Temple in Lhasa

Jokhang Temple:

The only section that has not yet been destroyed by the Chinese invaders Jokhang temple is the most important monastery to the Tibetan. Situated right in the heart of Lhasa city and surrounded the bustling Barkhor Street this temple has witnessed almost 1400 year of pilgrimage and prayers. Built by the great King Songtsen Gampo back in 642 AD this temple has suffered wind, sun rain and wars but has been able to stand tall. Consisting of generously decorated halls and rooms this building finds crowd of eager tourist all around the year. The main hall of the temple has a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha which is probably the most worshiped statue in Tibet.
